Project Background
A municipal water supply network upgrade was planned for a city with a daily capacity of 100,000 m³. The project required 35 km of main pipelines (DN200–DN630) with high corrosion resistance, hygienic safety, and a minimum 50-year service life.
Solution
PE100-grade HDPE pipes (PN10–PN16) were selected, complying with ISO 4427 and EN 12201 standards. Butt fusion and electrofusion welding were used for jointing. The smooth inner surface ensures stable flow capacity and prevents scaling.

Installation & Performance
Butt fusion welding was completed with automated machines; joint strength exceeded the pipe body. The installation period was shortened by 30% compared to ductile iron pipes, and overall project cost was reduced by approximately 15%.
Results
- After 3 years of operation, leakage rate remains below 3%.
- Water quality tests fully comply with drinking water standards; no secondary contamination.
- Excellent flexibility allowed crossing roads and rivers without special foundations.
